Venture building in the enterprise

A large enterprise client wanted help to diversify its business into adjacent ecosystems and achieve a substantial gain in revenue and customers in a 5-year time frame. These adjacent ecosystems would sit outside but leverage the core business.

APPROACH

Using McKinsey’s proprietary methodologies (Leap) to define potential new business opportunities using McKinsey’s venture blueprinting process.

-

Squads with venture builders that include consultants and internal client members. We came together to answer questions proposed by business leaders to understand the problem and challenge. We unpacked the problems as a product trio of desirability, viability, and feasibility to develop several opportunities to test and validate.

ROLE

Squad design lead (desirability): I took initial research done in a previous phase, developed several product prototypes, created product requirements, and validated them in the market. Alongside this role, I coached the development of digital product design capability in four other venture squads.
